Library Trustees Form Strategic Plan Subcommittee, Name Interim Leadership

GREAT BARRINGTON — June 20, 2023 — Great Barrington Library Trustees voted unanimously to form a four-member strategic plan subcommittee with a hard October 1, 2023 state deadline looming. The board, meeting in hybrid format at the Mason Library, also unanimously appointed Ruby Chang as secretary in a roll call vote required by Trustee Sandy Pantorino's remote participation. Town Manager Mark Scott announced he would name Donna Brown interim library director and Christine Warner interim assistant library director at the Select Board's June 26 meeting, with the permanent director position already posted and receiving resumes. The library is currently down six employees; Scott said the assistant director role will be held open so the incoming director can participate in that hire. The new subcommittee — comprising Chair Pat Consolati, Rob, Ruby Chang, and Pantorino — immediately convened its first session and began planning a community survey to be distributed at the Great Barrington Farmers Market on July 1 and July 9, with analysis and full plan writing to follow before the October 1 submission deadline.
