School Committee approves treasurer, high school building items
School Committee · Meeting of May 7, 2026
GREAT BARRINGTON — Berkshire Hills Regional School Committee unanimously names new district treasurer, clears high school building equipment list. Members voted 6-0 to appoint Kami Lamica of Wilbraham as treasurer effective July 1, succeeding a longtime retiring treasurer, with the superintendent calling the separate role "a segregation of duties" required under state law. The committee also approved, 6-0, an 11-item proprietary equipment list, including Aruba network switches and a Triton Sensors vape-detection system, for the Monument Mountain Regional High School project ahead of state bidding, and voted to support raising the state's school choice tuition cap from $5,000 to $7,500.
An outside audit found no material problems but flagged an elevated number of correcting entries tied to delayed grant postings. CLIO program coordinator Molly Murray reported the district's after-school program scored a perfect 24 of 24 on a Berkshire United Way review, warning "to lose funding would be to lose momentum on this."
