Select Board Approves $1.5 Million Bond Sale For Town Projects

Select Board · Meeting of June 15, 2026

Great Barrington Select Board sells $1.5 million in notes, endorses open space plan, stalls a driveway over fire access. The board unanimously approved the sale of $1,539,933 in bond anticipation notes to Bank ESB at a 3.15 percent net interest cost, financing three previously approved capital projects. Members endorsed the town's draft Open Space and Recreation Plan to preserve state grant eligibility, even though the Planning Board postponed its own vote over wording concerns.

A driveway permit at 172 Division Street was continued to July 6 after the fire chief warned he "cannot guarantee" apparatus access up the steep grade and recommended a sprinkler system. The board also opened talks on restructuring oversight of the Ramsdale library renovation, now queued for state library-construction funding, and redirected a VFW Fourth of July banner from Castronova Park to Town Hall, citing the park's status as "the gateway to town."
