Select Board Calls Oct. 19 Special Town Meeting
Select Board · Meeting of September 2, 2026
Great Barrington Select Board calls October 19 special town meeting on $3.9 million sewer grant. The board voted 3-0 Wednesday, with Garfield, Eric and Phil in favor and Steve absent, to schedule the session for 6 p.m. at the Monument Mountain Regional High School Auditorium. Sewer commissioners requested the vote after determining the town needed voter approval to accept a $3.9 million grant, including $350,000 from an energy grant, tied to a larger $20.7 million wastewater treatment plant renovation; the town has also applied for State Revolving Fund loan financing on the project.
A staff member identified as Liz said the warrant is not yet set and that citizen petition articles are tentatively due by September 10, with the finished warrant needing 14 days' posting before the meeting. "We're not setting the warrant tonight," she told the board. No public comment was offered before the board adjourned.
