Finance Committee elects Meagher chair in 4-0 votes

Finance Committee · Meeting of May 19, 2026

Great Barrington Finance Committee reorganizes, elects Madonna Meagher chair. The committee voted 4-0 by roll call Tuesday to install Meagher as chair, Jeffrey Rothenberg as vice chair and Reo Matsuzaki as clerk, with Michelle Loubert continuing as a member. Town Manager Liz Hartsgrove presided over the vote before handing the meeting to Meagher.

Loubert warned new members that state ethics law bars using public-sector jobs to "conduct Town of Great Barrington business." Resident James Garzon, the lone citizen speaker, said school costs remain "70 percent of our tax bill, which is exorbitant" and pushed for town representation on the school district's finance committee. The panel, which has one vacant seat, adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
