Board of Health Reappoints Officers, Approves Regional Health Inspectors
Board of Health · Meeting of May 14, 2026
Great Barrington Board of Health keeps leadership, deputizes regional health inspectors. Chair Michael Lanoue, Vice Chair Peter Stanton and Dr. Ruby Chang voted unanimously, 3-0, to retain the board's current officers and separately to appoint all inspectors from the Southern Berkshire Public Health Collaborative as agents of the board through fiscal year 2027.
Collaborative representatives Jane Smith and Jason Dragonetti said new inspector Rebecca Clerget brings 25 years of restaurant experience and will work about 15 hours a week locally. Smith said a $15 million statewide public health line item exists under the SAPHE 2.0 law but "we're really looking at sustainability measures" as the collaborative's three-year grant cycle nears its end. Health Agent Rebecca Jurczyk said weekly beach bacteria testing begins next week at Lake Mansfield and the Williams River.
