Planning Board approves Fairview Hospital, Stockbridge Road site plans

Planning Board · Meeting of April 9, 2026

Great Barrington Planning Board unanimously approves hospital addition and hibachi restaurant site plans. Chair Brandee Nelson's board signed off on a continued site plan review for an addition to Fairview Hospital at 27-29 Lewis Avenue, after applicant representative Steve Mack addressed lighting, landscaping and grading concerns, including roughly 1,500 net cubic yards of imported fill. Clerk Jonathan Hankin asked "why aren't we putting in a helipad on the new building?"; hospital official Joe Laroche said the site can't support one and the facility's license caps it at 25 beds.

The board also approved, 5-0 by voice vote, a site plan for 105 Stockbridge Road, where JZ Group is converting a former Burger King into a hibachi restaurant with 134 seats, conditioned on meeting the town's one-space-per-three-seats parking bylaw and planting one additional street tree. Members also accepted, without prejudice, the withdrawal of a solar special permit application for 53 Van Deusenville Road.
