Select Board postpones contested citizen complaint hearing to April 27
Select Board · Meeting of April 13, 2026
Great Barrington Select Board postpones contested citizen complaint hearing to April 27. A resident identified only as John, a longtime observer of the board and freelance writer for the Berkshire Edge, objected that ground rules limiting speakers to five minutes each were "unprecedented in my 30 years of observation of this body" and were sprung on him with less than a day's notice. Board member Steve, the subject of the complaint, said "my name's being dragged through the mug for what I consider no reason." The board voted 3-0 by roll call to take right-of-way easements for the Division Street Bridge replacement, with construction not starting this summer.
Bridge director Gwendolyn Van Sayle presented a new "community care team" advisory annex to the town's 2017 immigration trust policy, developed with Interim Police Chief Adam Carlotta.
