Bus service returns to full weekday hours Oct. 26

The Town of Great Barrington announced Oct. 21 that South County Connector bus service will return to its regular weekday operating schedule starting Monday, Oct. 26. The service will run Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The town described the change as part of its continued effort to rebuild operational capacity, strengthen staffing and restore reliable transportation options for residents and visitors.

Weekend transportation service and the Pittsfield FLEX route remain suspended for now. The town said both are anticipated to resume in the coming weeks as soon as operationally feasible, with additional announcements to follow as restoration dates are confirmed.

Town Manager Liz Hartsgrove thanked transportation employees for their work during the transition. "We are grateful to our transportation employees for their dedication and flexibility as we continue strengthening our operations," Hartsgrove said in a statement. "We also recognize that our work is not finished. Our commitment is to continue making meaningful progress, communicate openly, and restore the full range of services our riders depend upon."

The town thanked riders, employees and community partners for their patience as it works toward fully restoring transportation services.
