The Town of Great Barrington announced Oct. 28 that the town was featured in a national Travel + Leisure article highlighting its arts, culture, outdoor recreation, local businesses and small-town charm.

The article, titled "I've Visited the Berkshires for 15+ Years, This Mountain Town Stands Out for Its Culture Paired With Stunning Scenery," was written by travel writer Lauren Dana Ellman, who described Great Barrington as one of her favorite Berkshire destinations.

The feature highlights the town's walkable downtown, independent businesses, culinary and arts scene, and outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the year. It mentions several local landmarks, including the Downtown Great Barrington Cultural District, the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, Monument Mountain, Lake Mansfield and the W.E.B. Du Bois National Historic Site. The article also notes local farms, shops, restaurants and accommodations, as well as the Great Barrington Farmers' Market and independent bookstores.

Town Manager Liz Hartsgrove said in a statement, "Great Barrington's success has always been rooted in the creativity, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit. Recognition like this is an opportunity to celebrate that success, support the businesses and organizations that make it possible, and continue building a community where people want to live, work, visit, and return."

The town encouraged residents to read the feature and share it with friends and family, and to continue supporting local businesses and organizations. The full article is available on Travel + Leisure's website.
