Special Town Meeting set for tonight in Great Barrington

The Town of Great Barrington reminded residents that a Special Town Meeting will be held tonight, Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the auditorium at Monument Mountain Regional High School, 600 Stockbridge Road.

Registered voters will have the chance to consider and vote on matters affecting the community, including proposed investments in wastewater infrastructure and funding related to the town's response to the partial collapse of the former Cook's Garage property at 426 Park Street.

To help residents prepare, the town set up a dedicated Special Town Meeting webpage with the official warrant, information on individual warrant articles, project background, financial considerations and supporting materials. Residents can review the warrant and supporting materials on the town's Special Town Meeting webpage.

Town Manager Liz Hartsgrove said in a statement, "Town Meeting is one of the most important opportunities for our community to come together, understand immediate issues before us, and participate directly in decisions that shape Great Barrington's future. Our goal has been to provide clear, accessible information ahead of tonight's meeting and I encourage voters to review the materials, bring their questions, and participate in the conversation."

The Special Town Meeting is scheduled for tonight, Oct. 19, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Monument Mountain Regional High School Auditorium, 600 Stockbridge Road, Great Barrington.
